The front building on the property was a log home, built by Bob McLennan (a log homebuilder, cabinet-maker and antique furniture restorer) for his family in the mid 1950's. In addition to being the family home, the building also served as the Bragg Creek Post Office, with Jackie McLennan as the Postmaster from 1962 to 1980.
Later, the McLennans constructed a new building which housed their antique store called Homestead Antiques, which focused on pioneer antique items used on the prairies in the early 1900's. This building is now The Post House.
The McLennans sold the property to Suzanne and Heather. They were the first to operate as a Retreat and Conference Centre known as the CountryWood.
Now, that original building contains an apartment and a commercial kitchen that is used for catering for the Post House Conference Centre and Retreat. Next on the list will be to turn the original cabin into overnight accommodation for groups or families. Stay tuned!
